Youth Sunday
Tomorrow is Taylor Campbells and my last youth Sunday. Its sad that we are almost done with youth group and its sad that its my last youth Sunday.
I was involved with getting the youth praise band started. It was at a car wash for our first mission trip. We were sitting around talking about youth group and it was brought up that we should start playing music at the beginning of youth group. It also turned out that Rachael Shwankel played drums, Carica Braren played guitar and I played bass.
The next week we brought our instruments and played a couple songs. It went well, so we started doing it every week. Then we wanted to lead the worship for one Sunday. So we had our first youth Sunday. It must have went well because we were asked to play again.
That was three years ago. Then Rachael and Carica left for college. I didnt think the band was going to continue on, but my sister started learning guitar, and Taylor Campbell played drums. And weve been playing for two years. We also added Phil Huss on the electric guitar.
Now Taylor and I are leaving. Whats going to happen to the band? We still have our guitar players and weve got someone that is learning drums. Chris McCan is taking lessons and learning really fast. Hes played at a couple youth groups and has done a good job.
But what about a bass? Well there is no one that I know of, but if God wants a bass player, Hell provide one. Hes been the one orchestrating the band and theres no doubt He will continue to.
